Feilding is taking another big step toward sustainability with the launch of a new kerbside food scraps collection service this November!
Around 40% of what ends up in household rubbish is food waste. Now, residents will receive a kitchen caddy and green bin to collect those leftovers that can’t go in compost — like meat, bones, dairy, bread, and coffee grounds.
All food scraps will be sent to Ecogas’s bioenergy facility in Reporoa, where they’ll be turned into renewable energy and nutrient-rich fertiliser — keeping valuable resources out of landfill.
Even better, the service is completely free, funded through the national Waste Levy and Ministry for the Environment.
