What can go in my general waste wheelie bin?
Your general waste wheelie bin is intended for most household general waste. However, please note that the following items should not be placed in the bin:
- Concrete
- Stones
- Steel
- Wood
- Hot ashes
- Liquids
- Dead animals
- Dirt or sand
- Hazardous or flammable materials

We offer a general waste wheelie bin service in the Kapiti Region. Wheelie bins are available in 80L, 120L and 240L sizes, and you can choose between weekly or fortnightly pickup.
Recycling Wheelie Bins & Crates
We offer a 120L Recycling Wheelie Bin & a glass crate white are collected on alternate weeks. The recycling wheelie bin is used cardboard, paper, magazines, newspapers, shredded paper, glass bottles and jars, plastics (1, 2, and 5), scrap metals, tin cans, and aluminium cans. The recycling crate is used for glass.
Green Waste Wheelie bins
We offer a low cost green waste wheelie bin service in the Kapiti Region. This bin is collected fortnightly and is available in our largest wheelie bin size 240L
Skip Bins
We offer general waste skip bin services in the Kapiti Region. Skip bins are available in sizes 3.5m, 4m and 8m. Once purchased, they stay at your property for 7 days till they are collected by our friendly team.
How is my rubbish paid for in Kapiti?
We offer a range of user-paid subscription options to suit your household's needs. Kerbside rubbish collection in Kapiti is paid for on a user-paid basis.
Kapiti Coast District Council requires the collectors to provide a combined rubbish and recycling collection service for their urban residential customers. This means all wheelie bin services for rubbish come with a recycling wheelie bin and glass crate. The price you pay for your rubbish service includes the cost to collect your recycling.
What time should I have my bin out?
To ensure timely collection, kindly position your bin by the kerbside no later than 7:00 AM on the scheduled collection day.
Many of our customers find it convenient to place their wheelie bins out the night before, which is a great advantage of a wheelie bin as pests cannot get into the rubbish.
